Abstract

This study presents a bibliometric analysis of research on gender inequality, offering a detailed overview of the field's development, key themes, and emerging trends over the past five decades. Utilizing data from 16,274 articles indexed in the Scopus database, the analysis identifies central themes such as gender identity, the roles of men and women, and social determinants of inequality. The study also reveals underdeveloped areas, including the intersection of education and gender disparity, and highlights emerging topics that merit further scholarly attention. The research demonstrates the highly interconnected and multidisciplinary nature of gender studies, with contributions spanning social, economic, psychological, and health-related dimensions. Methodologically, the field exhibits diverse approaches, reflecting its complexity. The study concludes that while foundational themes remain robust, future research should focus on expanding into more intersectional perspectives and addressing gaps in the literature, particularly in underexplored areas like education and global health outcomes.
